Balancing Work, Life, And Parenthood

Truly, work-life balance is a hot topic for entrepreneurs.

Me and my husband Bryan are no exception to this.

As a husband-wife team running an agency, me and my husband are living proof that it is possible to succeed in business while cherishing a fulfilling personal life.

My Personal Journey:

My husband Bryan began working part-time in Stock Media six years ago and eventually transitioned to a full-time role as my right hand.

True enough, both of us have come a long way and seen how things have remarkably progressed within Stock Media.

Along with our partnership in business and personal life, the heart of the matter has been managing our agency while balancing the demands of raising our one-year-old daughter.

With that being said, I know how entrepreneurs struggle with elusive work-life balance. This is why I want to share some tips to help YOU achieve the work-life balance you deserve.

Tips To Achieve Work-Life Balance

Tip #1: Don’t Try To Do Too Much

Focus on what matters most- your health and your family.

Apart from that, value your fitness. It is a game-changer for maintaining a good work-life balance.

By dedicating time to your well-being and loved ones, you become more energized and focused on dealing with work and personal commitments.

Remember, it’s not all about doing too much. It’s all about doing what’s truly important.

Here’s what works for me:

Me and my husband always dedicate our time to going to the gym. We do it early morning and ensure it’s the first thing we do daily!

When it comes to family, we have also learned how to adapt our schedules to be available when our daughter is active and wants to spend more time.

It’s safe to say we have both mastered utilizing our time wisely!

Everything takes time. Everyone wants to grow extremely large and scale at rapid rates. Make sure you prioritize your health and your family first. – Bryan

Tip #2: Balance Your Workload

If you tend to work non-stop until every task is completed, it’s essential to recognize that this approach can be exhausting and leave little room for a well-rounded life.

Balancing your workload means understanding that there’s more to life than work.

It’s about allocating your time wisely so that you can also enjoy personal and family moments. This balance prevents burnout and ensures a happier and healthier life.

Here’s what works for me:
I naturally tend to work continuously until all my tasks are done. I had to learn how to balance my workload, focus on my fitness, and be more present as a parent.

Tip #3: Build A Solid Support System

Building a support system is a key element in your journey toward work-life balance.

When you find the right balance and have faith in your team’s ability to manage tasks, sharing your responsibilities and alleviating your stress becomes easier.

Thus freeing up more time for yourself and for your loved ones.

By building this support structure, you’re lightening your load and nurturing a healthier work-life balance.

Here’s what works for me:
Building a solid support system is crucial for me and my husband. We’re fortunate enough to have grown our agency into six members, allowing us to delegate tasks and even free up our evenings for more family time!

Tip #4: Streamline Your Tasks

Efficiency is the name of the game regarding work-life balance.

It would be best to embrace automation, as it can be a game-changer for making the most of your time. By automating tasks like

1. Setting reminders for appointments
2. Managing questionnaires
3. Overseeing projects

Your tasks become more manageable and less time-consuming. This means you can focus on what truly matters in your work and personal life, ultimately contributing to a more balanced and fulfilling lifestyle.

Here’s what works for me:
I’m a big fan of automation myself. I use it to streamline my tasks.

Although it doesn’t eliminate my work, it helps me work more efficiently and take control of my time!

Tip #5: Set Clear Priorities.

Clarity in your daily schedule is key to achieving that elusive work-life balance.

Setting clear priorities lets you distinguish between what’s important and what can wait.

Plan your week, map out your work commitments, and schedule your personal life so you know exactly how you want your days to unfold.

This way, you can design your work and personal life around your preferences, ensuring you control your time and priorities.

Here’s what works for me:
One of my top strategies is setting clear priorities.

I always make sure to plan my week and map out both my work and personal commitments. I value knowing what my day looks like. I always want to design my work and personal life around my preferences!

Tip #6: Be Proactive In Managing Your Time

Time is a precious resource, especially for entrepreneurs like you who strive hard to achieve work-life balance.

Being proactive in managing your time means taking the initiative to plan and optimize your schedule.

When you proactively manage your time, you’ll find that you can accomplish more in less time, leaving room for the personal life you desire.

Here’s what works for me:
My husband and I are always proactive when managing our time.

Even with our daughter’s arrival, our time available for work has reduced significantly! We learned how to get things done efficiently by getting up early or staying late to make the most of our working hours.

Tip #7: Turn Off Your Notifications

In this digital age, it’s no surprise how your notifications constantly vie for your attention. Thus making it challenging for you to focus on your work and personal life.

Rather than constantly being bombarded by emails, messages, and alerts, set specific times to check them; it would be best to turn off your notifications.

This approach allows you to control your schedule and be more productive.

By silencing the noise of notifications, you’ll be amazed at how much more you can accomplish while enjoying a more balanced life.

Here’s what works for me:
I highly recommend that you turn off your notifications.

Constant email alerts and other notifications can distract you and lead you to become less productive. Checking your emails only at specific times during the day lets you focus on your tasks.

Tip #8: Identify Big Three Tasks Each Day

To make the most of your day, identify your “big three” tasks – the three most important things you need to accomplish.

Focus on these tasks first, and once you’ve completed one, take a short break to recharge before moving on to the next.

This strategy ensures you tackle your most critical responsibilities, helping you maintain your work-life balance.

By simplifying your daily objectives, you can increase your efficiency and find time for both work and personal life without feeling overwhelmed by a never-ending to-do list.

Here’s what works for me:
I follow the practice of identifying my big three tasks for each workday. I focus on these three critical tasks and ensure I finish them.

After I complete one task, I take a short break and refresh my mind before I tackle the next.

Tip #9: Don’t Wait To Prioritize Work-Life Balance.

Delaying changes in your work routine and support system can lead to burnout.

Don’t procrastinate. Make necessary changes to find harmony between your professional and personal life. Your health, happiness and overall success will benefit from taking proactive steps to prioritize work-life balance.

Here’s what works for me:
Delaying crucial work routines and support system changes can lead to burnout.

That is why I keep moving forward and taking action to help me achieve a better work-life balance.
