We all want to have successful businesses, a close relationship with family and friends, and a healthy relationship with ourselves…
… but really, that’s so much easier said than done.
Some days your business will take priority. Others your family or friends will.
Not having that perfectly balanced schedule and being ok with it is something I had to learn.
Over the last 7 years, as I grew my business to a new level, I also had to learn how to manage my time.
Right now, I’m expecting a baby, so time management is even more important to me than before.
Time management is how I will be able to be the mom I want to be but still be this kickass successful entrepreneur.
That is really what proper time management can do for you.
So, let’s get to it.
What do you need to start doing right now to manage your time better and be more productive?
Here is my three most important time management tips.
#1: Wake Up Early
This is one of the most important time management tips I’ve been sticking to for honestly as long as I can remember, is to wake up early…
Well, as long as I can remember before I got pregnant, that is.
It’s amazing being able to wake up, focus on yourself, and focus on some big projects before the rest of the world wakes up and starts demanding your time.
Even simply from an email side of things.
I’d rather wake up and get a lot of my work done before I even open my emails.
It’s like as soon as that 9/10 o’clock hits- I’m being pulled in a million different directions.
So start with getting up early and having a plan – that alone will help you crush a lot of things quickly in life and business.
Be realistic, but stick to it as best you can.
#2: Set Deadlines And Stick To Them
Another really good tip that I started doing a couple of years ago is setting deadlines.
I remember in the past, I’d sign on a new client and have zero idea how long it would take me to launch this project.
When I started my business, I wasn’t that busy, so sometimes, I’d sign a client and finish their entire project within a couple of days.
Then I started getting busier and busier.
I had to hire more people to help with the project, and the management and buildout of the campaigns were more complex, which meant it took longer to complete.
I had to start setting myself deadlines for each task I had to do.
I mean actual deadlines that are concrete and specific.
I had to figure out how long I thought it would take to create each project piece.
Set them in priority order based on what I needed to accomplish at a time to move to the next step.
And from that, I would determine a realistic launch date for my clients.
I not only organized my time wisely to manage multiple projects at once, but I was a lot less overwhelmed and could put my full attention to each piece of the puzzle per client.
#3 Take Breaks Throughout The Day
We cannot discuss time management tips without mentioning this. Now, of course, when you are organized and have that much on your to-do list, it’s also important to make sure you are taking breaks.
I understand as a fellow entrepreneur that we wanted to finish everything yesterday, but it will impact your creativity and lead to burnout if you keep doing that.
Take a break every so often.
Get up and get a glass of water.
Go for a quick walk.
Do a dance party.
Whatever you have to do, disconnect for a while and come back refreshed.
Your body and mind will thank you, but you’ll also be able to be more productive and creative with your work.
